Dr. Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister of Housing, discussed mechanisms to achieve maximum benefit from the seawater desalination plant in Ain Sokhna during a meeting attended by ministry leaders and relevant authorities. The meeting focused on supporting development in northern Ain Sokhna and neighborhoods in Suez, as well as ensuring a safe and sustainable supply of drinking water.
Major General Amin Shawky reviewed the status of projects under the National Authority for Potable Water, confirming the readiness of the desalination plant and transmission lines to meet the service area’s needs. Representatives of the Holding Company also presented an outlook on the planned water requirements, with a supply capacity of 70,000 m³/day.

Ismail followed up on the timelines for linking the targeted production projects with the plant and discussed the required monthly water volumes to ensure citizens’ needs are met, especially during the summer. He emphasized the importance of water loss reduction plans implemented by the relevant authorities to support urban development in fourth-generation cities.
The meeting concluded by reaffirming the importance of strengthening cooperation between the concerned bodies to meet water demand and support sustainable development in the targeted areas.
