Demolition Orders for Building Violations in New Alamein and New Damietta

Engineer Sherif El Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, has issued two decisions regarding the removal of building violations and encroachments in the expansion areas of New Alamein City and New Damietta City. Relevant authorities have also been tasked with monitoring the outcomes of the violation removal campaigns in the cities of 6th of October, Badr, New Nubaria, and Sheikh Zayed.

In a statement issued today, Friday, the Minister reaffirmed the ongoing efforts to remove encroachments and violations on lands belonging to the New Urban Communities Authority. He emphasized that directives have been given to the heads of city authorities in this regard, as it is considered a direct responsibility of theirs. These actions are part of enforcing the law, preserving the urban character of the new cities, and preventing the spread of informal settlements.

The two decisions include the removal of encroachments and building violations on plots of land within the boundaries of New Alamein City, covering 431 cases of spatial alteration. They also address building violations on a plot of land in the Second District – City Center – within the jurisdiction of the New Damietta City Authority, where a fourth-floor ceiling was poured without obtaining the necessary permits.

Engineer Mohamed Mostafa, Head of the 6th of October City Authority, stated that campaigns to remove obstructions and violations in the second sector led to the execution of 8 closure orders and the conversion of residential units into unlicensed activities. Additionally, illegal land seizures were removed in the Youth Housing area. Unauthorized modifications at the Yousr Center were also dismantled, utility meters were lifted, and immediate action was taken to remove rooftop extensions on several plots.

Mostafa further reported that similar campaigns in the first sector resulted in the execution of 11 closure and sealing orders in the second and third districts due to violations of licensing conditions. Rooftop rooms and construction violations were also removed across multiple plots in various neighborhoods.

Engineer Mohamed Abdelaziz Amer, Head of the Badr City Authority, noted that a campaign was launched targeting non-compliant commercial shops. The campaign resulted in the closure and sealing of some basements and shops in the First District, in preparation for taking legal action.
