The Ministry of Local Development received a complaint from residents of Fathy Ismail Street in the Ain Shams district of Cairo regarding an illegal building. The property owner had begun restoring and reconstructing floors that had been previously demolished and had unsealed unlicensed shops, posing a danger to the safety of neighboring buildings. Minister of Local Development, Dr. Manal Awad, directed the Ministry’s Inspection Sector to investigate the complaint. Upon inspection, illegal restoration and reconstruction activities were confirmed. Relevant authorities were contacted, officials were summoned, and the demolition process of the violating building commenced.
Dr. Manal Awad ordered the disconnection of all utilities from the unlicensed property and the removal of its meters, with instructions to cease any dealings with it. The Minister also decided to refer negligent officials who failed to implement demolition orders to the Administrative Prosecution and to issue violation reports against the building’s owner. The Minister stressed the importance of cracking down on any illegal construction and directed daily monitoring to ensure the complete demolition of the building as a clear message to violators.
