Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, met with representatives of a German company specializing in drinking water and sanitation to explore potential areas of cooperation. Representatives from the ministry, the New Urban Communities Authority, and the Executive Organization for Drinking Water and Sanitation attended the meeting.
Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny opened the meeting by welcoming the company’s officials and expressing his willingness to collaborate in industrial fields, train technical personnel in the drinking water and sanitation sector, cooperate in maintenance workshops, recycle equipment, and reuse it.
During the meeting, the Minister of Housing emphasized that the Egyptian government is currently focusing on localizing the manufacturing of components for national projects, including those related to water and wastewater treatment plants. This provides a significant opportunity for the company to operate effectively in this sector.
The company’s representatives presented their projects on water and wastewater treatment plants in Egypt, where they are responsible for electromechanical works. The meeting also discussed the possibility of localizing the manufacturing of these plant components. It explored ways to collaborate in managing and operating drinking water stations under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny reaffirmed that the Ministry of Housing has established partnerships with the private sector in several projects, highlighting Egypt’s strategic direction toward enhancing private sector participation in the management and operation of infrastructure projects.
