A cooperation protocol was signed between the New Urban Communities Authority and the Fine Arts Sector at the Ministry of Culture in response to directives from the political leadership aimed at improving the quality of life in new cities. The protocol aims to enhance the artistic and visual aspects of these cities, where the Minister of Housing, Engineer Sherif Sharabiny, emphasized the importance of creating an integrated human environment that supports creativity and contributes to building a contemporary urban identity.
Through this exemplary cooperation, the Egyptian state seeks to establish a new generation of smart and cultural cities, aligning with Egypt’s Vision 2030 for sustainable development. Engineer Ameen Ghoneim confirmed that signing the protocol represents an important step in integrating the cultural dimension into urban development, as the new cities have become developmental platforms reflecting the spirit of modern Egypt.
Meanwhile, Dr. Walid Ganoush expressed his pride in the partnership with the Authority, affirming the art sector’s commitment to supporting this collaboration and transforming the new cities into inspiring models that reflect Egypt’s soft power.
The protocol aims to develop the cultural and aesthetic aspects of the new cities, in response to the Minister of Housing’s directives, by turning them into civilizational platforms that reflect Egyptian art and history. The protocol includes organizing an international sculpture symposium, setting up a traveling museum, and designating outlets for marketing cultural industries, which enhances the marketing value of these cities. It also seeks to attract Egyptian and international artists, host interactive exhibitions, and utilize open spaces for community arts, thereby strengthening the visual identity and creating a spatial memory for future generations.
