Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Sherif El-Sherbiny emphasized the need to accelerate work on the Fustat Hills Gardens project in Old Cairo to ensure its completion within the specified timeline. This statement came during a meeting with the chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of the companies responsible for the project’s implementation. The project spans 500 acres, and the minister highlighted the crucial role of national companies in Egypt’s urban development. He also stressed the importance of monitoring the project’s progress, overcoming challenges, and maintaining continuous communication with all stakeholders.
During the meeting, the Minister of Housing urged the officials of the executing companies to remain present at the project sites, assess the remaining work, track supply statuses, and evaluate workforce capacity. He also emphasized establishing weekly schedules to determine performance and conducting regular meetings between the project’s task force and company representatives. The minister listened to the input of company officials regarding the ongoing and planned work, underlining the importance of accelerating the pace of construction and ensuring the project’s timely completion while providing full support for its execution.
The Fustat Hills Gardens project covers 500 acres in the heart of historic Cairo and is one of the most extensive gardens in the Middle East. The project aims to revive Egypt’s heritage across different eras, including cultural and commercial activities, hotel services, archaeological sites, and heritage gardens. Additionally, it features an elevated plateau offering a unique view of the Giza Pyramids and the Citadel of Salah El-Din. The project is also expected to create around 20,000 direct and indirect job opportunities.
