City of 6th of October Intensifies Efforts to Remove Encroachments and Enforce Building Regulations

In alignment with directives from Engineer Mohamed Mostafa, Head of the 6th of October City Development Authority, an extensive campaign was launched to address encroachments, remove building violations, and improve the city’s appearance. The initiative aims to better organize public areas, regulate markets, and maintain the overall urban aesthetic. These efforts were carried out by the Encroachment Management Department in cooperation with the City Development and Utilities Police.

Focusing primarily on the areas around Hosary Square and the Second District, the campaign targeted illegal street obstructions, which included the removal of plastic chairs and tables set up by unauthorized vendors, as well as the dismantling of unapproved signs from several cafes. The operation also involved confiscating an unauthorized electric meter and an espresso machine that were used for illegal activities.

In addition to addressing encroachments, the Development Authority organized a campaign to eliminate unauthorized construction that violates zoning and licensing regulations. The campaign resulted in the immediate demolition of illegal building expansions, including an overbuilt structure on Plot No. 793 in the Fourth Neighborhood of the First District. The removal involved dismantling wooden formwork, taking down an unauthorized roof, and submitting an official request to halt any reconciliation and permit procedures for this violation.

The campaign also included the immediate removal of excess steel reinforcements at Plot No. 17 in the 49 Feddan area.

The coordinated operations were conducted under the supervision of Deputy Head of the Development Authority, Engineer Ahmed Namour, alongside key officials, including Mohamed Abdel Nasser, Assistant to the Authority Head; Wael Ghazy, Supervisor of the First Sector; Mostafa Aranda, Central Axis Supervisor; and Khaled Al-Sayyad, the head of the Hosary area shifts. These efforts reflect a strong commitment from the city’s administration to uphold building standards, ensure public safety, and meet the expectations of the city’s residents for organized, well-maintained public spaces.
