Dr. Ibrahim Saber, the Deputy Governor of Cairo, stated that the Khedivial Cairo Development Project aims to bring about a radical transformation in the downtown area of the capital by enhancing its visual appearance and reinforcing its architectural identity. The project includes preserving the distinctive facades of buildings, removing all distortions they have undergone, and organizing commercial shop signs in a way that aligns with the overall character of the area.
This statement was made during an inspection tour conducted last Monday by the Cairo Governor and Dr. Khaled Fouda, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Local Development and Chairman of the National Committee for the Protection and Development of Historic Cairo. The tour aimed to monitor the ongoing development works in the Khedivial Cairo area, in line with the political leadership’s directives to revive, preserve, and restore this area to its vital role in expressing the architectural and urban heritage of the region.
