Board of Directors of the Social Housing Fund Reviews Achievements for 2024–2025

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, chaired a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Support Fund. During the meeting, officials reviewed the executive progress of the housing initiatives dedicated to low- and middle-income citizens under the presidential plan “Housing for All Egyptians.” The meeting also covered updates on receiving applications from eligible tenants under the Old Rent Law, in addition to discussing the Fund’s 2024/2025 annual achievements report.

Progress of “Housing for All Egyptians” Units

During the meeting, officials presented the progress of the “Housing for All Egyptians” initiative, noting that approximately 1,002,100 housing units have been completed, along with the launch of 37,000 new units. An additional 28,000 units for middle-income and investment housing have also been finalized.

Moreover, 54,600 units have been delivered under the Green Housing Program for low-income beneficiaries. Discussions also included updates on the handover process to eligible recipients and assessments of future housing needs across various regions.

Financing and Beneficiary Statistics

Mai Abdel-Hamid, CEO of the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Support Fund, confirmed that since June 2014, a total of 21 public offerings have been launched for the initiative.

Mortgage financing provided to low-income groups has reached EGP 90 billion, offered through 22 banks and 8 financing companies, in addition to EGP 10.35 billion in direct cash support. The total number of low-income beneficiaries has reached 651,837 citizens.

As for middle-income groups, mortgage financing amounted to EGP 4 billion, provided by 10 banks and 4 financing companies, benefiting 11,799 citizens in total.

Old Rent Law Applications & Annual Achievements

The meeting also included a review of the status of receiving applications from tenants under the Old Rent Law, along with the Fund’s 2024/2025 annual performance report.

The report indicated that EGP 733 million in cash support was provided last year, bringing the total support since the program’s launch to EGP 10.3 billion.

Additionally, 69,000 new beneficiaries were added during the past year, raising the total to 653,000 citizens. The Fund continues to demonstrate significant progress in achieving its strategic goals—most importantly, providing adequate housing and expanding private-sector participation in national housing projects.
