Engineer Ashraf Fathy Mahmoud, Head of the New Damietta City Authority, announced the allocation of 12 commercial shops through a public auction for a period of 3 years, held in the presence of representatives from various governmental bodies. He confirmed that the shops will meet the needs of the city’s residents, in line with the directives of the Minister of Housing to provide services and maximize the utilization of financial resources. Additionally, the authority carried out an inspection campaign to control industrial wastewater violations in cooperation with the Urban Planning Police.
The Head of the Authority explained that the campaign aims to preserve the sewage networks, pumping stations, and treatment facilities, in addition to protecting the investments made in establishing the city’s sewage projects. He pointed out that the campaign included visits to commercial establishments such as restaurants, a car fueling station in the second district, the central area, and the industrial zone, where samples of industrial wastewater were taken from the final discharge points and necessary measures were taken against establishments not complying with the Egyptian code for industrial wastewater.
The Head of the Authority also noted that several establishments are currently being monitored to correct their status according to the tariffs for drinking water and sewage services, in addition to fees related to the treatment of wastewater from industrial establishments that violate the standards stipulated in the ministerial decree. He confirmed the committee’s ongoing work according to the regular inspection plan to maintain the facilities.
