Advancing Road and Infrastructure Development Projects and Diarna Housing Units in New Damietta

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbini, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, emphasized the importance of accelerating and intensifying work on projects aimed at upgrading roads and infrastructure in New Damietta City, in addition to expediting the implementation of the “Diarna” middle-income housing project in the city.

The Minister stressed the necessity of completing ongoing national projects in the new cities according to standard specifications to ensure the maximum benefit from the allocated investments. This, he noted, will contribute to improving the quality of services provided to citizens while driving development and investment forward.

This statement came as part of the Minister’s follow-up on the projects currently being implemented in New Damietta City through his inspections and review of project progress reports.

In this context, Engineer Ashraf Fathy Mahmoud, Head of New Damietta City Authority, along with other officials, inspected the paving and development works of the western coastal road to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards, in full coordination between the supervising body and the project’s consultant. He also inspected the road paving works in Neighborhood 32 of the Sixth District, instructing the executing company to accelerate completion of the works in parallel with the implementation of service projects, in addition to intensifying landscaping and beautification of islands and squares across the city.

The Head of the Authority also followed up on the construction of the electricity and lighting network in the “Damietta Park” area, which includes the expansion and reinforcement of electricity distributors using modular feed system cables. He further inspected the “Diarna” middle-income housing project south of the First District, which includes 33 buildings in its first phase.

As part of efforts to improve the city’s urban appearance, the Head of the Authority highlighted the continuation of landfilling and leveling of vacant plots, increasing cleaning and planting rates, and expediting road maintenance to preserve quality. Support was also allocated to expand the road in the Ambulance Checkpoint area west of the city to enhance public services.

During his tour of the First, Fourth, and Fifth residential districts, the Head of the Authority stressed raising the levels of cleaning and landscaping while eliminating any violations outside regulatory lines to maintain service quality in residential areas. He also inspected the public and private beaches to follow up on the development works completed ahead of the summer season, with a focus on improving services for visitors and attracting holidaymakers.

In the Corniche and beach areas, the Head of the Authority reaffirmed the ongoing commitment to preserving the city’s urban appearance and maintaining round-the-clock cleanliness, in addition to increasing greenery and trees to beautify beach entrances and surrounding areas. These efforts aim to enhance the city’s aesthetic and developmental image.
