North Sinai Governorate has announced the launch of the second priority phase of the first stage, offering a total of 688 housing units, along with 234 remaining units from the priority phase in New Rafah City. Each residential unit consists of three rooms and a living room, with a total area of 120 square meters. This step is part of the state’s efforts to provide suitable housing for the residents of Rafah after the hardships they have faced and to restore everyday life in Sinai. The government aims to reconstruct affected areas by establishing new residential communities and has decided to build New Rafah City in three phases under an ownership system without land shares.
The first phase includes the second priority phase and the remaining units from the first priority phase, consisting of 43 buildings containing 922 residential units. Prices for these units range between EGP 751,000 and EGP 926,000, with an option to pay a down payment of up to EGP 20,000. The remaining amount may be paid in monthly installments over 30 years.
Sources also indicated that 20% of the units have been allocated to the families of martyrs and injured individuals from Rafah and Sheikh Zuweid. Additionally, 10% of the units on the ground floor are designated for people with disabilities from Rafah, 5% for legal entities such as accommodations and guesthouses, and another 5% for administrative housing for government entities. The remaining 60% is allocated to other residents of North Sinai and employees working there, provided they can prove residency before 2014 and are Egyptian nationals with both parents being Egyptian.
