Ambassador Hisham Al-Maqoud, Egypt’s representative in Kinshasa, delivered an official letter from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to his Congolese counterpart, President Félix Tshisekedi. The letter included an invitation to attend the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum, scheduled to take place on November 1st.
During the meeting, Ambassador Al-Maqoud highlighted the strategic importance of bilateral relations between Egypt and the Democratic Republic of Congo, stressing that these are distinguished ties built on solid foundations of brotherhood, constructive cooperation, and mutual respect. He also pointed to Cairo’s aspirations to further strengthen its partnership with Congo across various sectors in ways that serve the interests of both nations.
The ambassador also reaffirmed Egypt’s support for peace efforts in eastern Congo, particularly concerning the peace agreement between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda under U.S. auspices. He expressed Egypt’s readiness to provide assistance in several fields that would enhance these efforts. For his part, President Tshisekedi expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s role, praising its continuous efforts to support stability and development in his country.
