Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Meguid, Deputy Chairman of the Housing Committee in the House of Representatives, affirmed that President El-Sisi’s directives to develop Egyptian ports represent a strategic step to enhance economic and logistical development.
He pointed to projects that include Gargoub Port and its economic zone, Abu Qir Port, the liquid bulk terminal in East Port Said, Galala Marina, and Berenice Port, stressing their role in creating job opportunities and attracting both local and international investments.
He also emphasized that port development is closely linked to modernizing transportation systems such as railways, monorail, and electric trains, which strengthens the connection between industrial zones and ports.
He added that the state’s plan to localize industries such as iron, steel, and cement supports domestic production and reduces imports, praising the leadership’s efforts in achieving comprehensive development and raising Egypt’s competitiveness while adhering to project timelines.
