President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a meeting today with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly; Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport; Lieutenant General Ahmed El-Shazly, Presidential Advisor for Financial Affairs; Major General Magdy Anwar, Director General of the Armed Forces’ National Service Projects Organization; and Major General Khaled Ahmed Abdullah, Head of the Armed Forces’ Financial Affairs Authority.
During the meeting, the President reviewed the latest updates on the development, establishment, operation, and management of ports across the Republic. The discussions included the master plan for Gargoub Port and the Gargoub Special Economic Zone, as well as Abu Qir Port and the liquid bulk terminal for storing and blending petroleum products at East Port Said.
The meeting also addressed the management, operation, marketing, and maintenance of Marina El-Galala, along with the handover of the superstructure of Berenice Port. The expected returns from these projects were presented, particularly in terms of creating new job opportunities for citizens. In this context, the President directed the continuation of developing Egypt’s port network to integrate with the infrastructure established in recent years, thereby enhancing the state’s capacity to maximize its use.

For his part, Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy stated that the discussions also touched on transport projects, particularly the railway system. Progress was reviewed on the construction of the East/West Nile Monorail and its associated stations, as well as ways to ensure integration between the East Cairo Monorail and the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, in addition to upgrading the roads adjacent to the monorail route. Officials indicated that the East Nile Monorail line is scheduled to open in November 2025.
The Spokesman added that the President emphasized the importance of adhering to implementation timelines and conducting regular, comprehensive reviews of road maintenance works to improve efficiency. He also stressed the need to accelerate the execution of logistical development corridors connecting production areas to the new seaports. Furthermore, the President instructed efforts to attract leading global shipping lines and transport operators, in support of the state’s goals to advance industrial development and achieve comprehensive economic growth.
