The cordial meeting between President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, witnessed a mutual affirmation of the importance of enhancing economic cooperation between Egypt and Turkey, with the goal of achieving a trade exchange volume of $15 billion, as agreed upon during President El-Sisi’s visit to Ankara in September 2024.
This came during President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s reception on Saturday of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, in the presence of Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs.
Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson for the Presidency, stated that the Turkish minister conveyed the greetings of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to President El-Sisi, who expressed his appreciation for the gesture and emphasized the importance of continuing to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
The President pointed to the positive development in Egyptian-Turkish relations, particularly following the signing of the joint declaration in February 2024 to reactivate the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meetings and elevate them to the level of the two heads of state.
