Minister of Housing Chairs Meeting to Oversee Regulation of the Real Estate Market

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, chaired a meeting with officials from the Digital Egypt Platform to review the progress of two key initiatives: the launch of the Real Estate Market Regulation Platform and the Egyptian Real Estate Export Platform. The meeting was attended by representatives from the Ministries of Housing, Communications, and Justice, as well as the New Urban Communities Authority.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister emphasized that the past period has witnessed intensive efforts to advance governance and digital transformation in Egypt’s real estate sector. He stressed that the Ministry of Housing places great importance on this file due to its critical role in establishing discipline within the real estate market. He further noted the productive collaboration between the Ministry, the Ministry of Communications, and other relevant stakeholders to achieve the desired objectives.

El-Sherbiny highlighted the significance of achieving all goals associated with regulating the real estate market and exporting Egyptian properties. He explained that the meeting aimed to present the Ministry’s vision for organizing and enhancing this sector through the development of two specialized digital platforms. The responsibilities of these platforms include setting evaluation standards for real estate developers, registering real estate brokers and issuing their licenses, and establishing assessment criteria to improve market performance and lay the foundations for greater transparency.

The Minister stressed the importance of integrating the efforts of all relevant bodies to achieve the objectives of these platforms and link them to the main Egypt Real Estate Platform. This central platform will serve as a comprehensive hub incorporating various procedures aimed at market regulation and global promotion of Egyptian real estate. Through this platform, all available housing units across Egypt will be displayed in an organized manner, and data connectivity between relevant authorities will be ensured.

The meeting also discussed the mechanisms for coordination and cooperation among different entities to guarantee the provision of integrated services to clients through a unified digital portal. This will allow for easy access to data related to any targeted property within the system.

Additionally, the meeting reviewed the operational details of both the Real Estate Export Platform and the Real Estate Market Regulation Platform. The discussion included the governance of the system using secure infrastructure and internationally recognized documentation standards. These features include multilingual and multi-currency support, facilitation of global financial transactions, and ensuring the rights of all parties involved. These steps are designed to encourage real estate investment and attract more investors to this promising sector.
