Engineer Hazem El-Gendy, Member of the Egyptian Senate and senior member of the Wafd Party’s Supreme Committee, praised President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s participation in the high-level coordination meeting of the African Union in Addis Ababa. He affirmed that Egypt’s political weight on the African stage is a direct reflection of President El-Sisi’s leadership.
El-Gendy pointed out that the meeting is limited to influential African leaders, highlighting Egypt’s pivotal role. He added that Egypt’s presidency of the North African region and the Committee of Heads of State and Government of the African Union Development Agency (NEPAD) reflects the international community’s confidence in Egypt.
He clarified that the President is focused on enhancing African cooperation and advancing development in key areas such as infrastructure, energy, and technology in order to improve citizens’ lives and tackle various challenges. He also noted that Egypt’s vision is being translated into concrete initiatives, including support for cross-border infrastructure, training programs, and the transfer of expertise in healthcare, education, and digital transformation — initiatives that have received both regional and international recognition.
El-Gendy emphasized the importance of President El-Sisi’s participation in coordinating efforts with African leaders to combat terrorism, illegal migration, and conflict. He stressed that the development of Egypt-Africa relations reflects a clear strategy based on openness and the promotion of mutual interests. He also noted Egypt’s strong return to the continent through developmental and security roles that support Africa’s future.
