On Thursday, Dr. Badr Abdel Aaty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, received Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance joint coordination between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Housing in support of cooperative relations with the African continent.
The meeting focused on discussing ways to strengthen development projects in African sister countries, with an emphasis on the promising opportunities and potential within the continent. The ministers underscored the importance of leveraging Egypt’s distinguished expertise, particularly in the fields of construction, infrastructure, and the implementation of major projects, to contribute to the development of African nations.
In this context, both ministers reviewed the achievements of Egyptian companies in several African countries, most notably the Julius Nyerere Dam project in Tanzania. This project was highlighted as an exemplary model of African-African cooperation and a practical demonstration of the capacity to support strategic infrastructure projects across the continent.
The discussion also addressed mechanisms for promoting Egyptian investment opportunities in the housing and utilities sector. Both sides stressed the importance of continued coordination between their ministries across various areas to reinforce Egypt’s pivotal role in its African environment and contribute to achieving sustainable development across the continent. This approach aligns with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi regarding fostering openness and enhancing cooperation with African sister nations.
