Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Sherif El-Sherbiny and Minister of Education Mohamed Ahmed Abdel Latif signed a cooperation protocol to transfer usage rights and administrative supervision of schools in new urban communities. The protocol aims to strengthen collaboration in the management and operation of schools in 6th of October City, where the German education system will be implemented. The school in October will serve as the first model, with additional schools to be identified in the future. El-Sherbiny expressed his support for the cooperation, emphasizing the importance of managing schools in a modern way aligned with Egypt’s education reform strategy.
The Minister of Housing confirmed the ministry’s full support for the Ministry of Education throughout the various implementation stages of the protocol. He underscored the importance of institutional collaboration and close follow-up on shared goals. He also highlighted the ministry’s successful model of technical schools that train students in the maintenance of water and wastewater networks—an initiative that has seen growing interest from both students and the private sector. He stressed the need to expand such schools and enhance students’ language skills to better prepare them for local and international job markets.
Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation with the Ministry of Housing through the signed protocol, referring to a strategic plan to manage international schools. The German-Egyptian school model will be launched in the upcoming academic year, and discussions are ongoing with the French Embassy to establish French schools. The minister also touched on efforts to improve technical education, noting that Egypt currently has 90 applied technology schools and a vision to elevate them to meet global standards. The ministry has signed cooperation protocols with countries like Germany, Italy, and Japan to attract international partnerships in this field, which will contribute to producing graduates who are qualified for the workforce.
