Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, announced the success of an intensive campaign in coordination with the police to remove illegal encroachments and reclaim 153 feddans of land under the jurisdiction of the New Sphinx City Development Authority.
The minister affirmed the continuation of efforts to remove encroachments and building violations in new urban cities, aiming to eliminate informal practices and restore the state’s rights. He emphasized that city authority officials have been instructed to prioritize this responsibility, as it is considered one of their core duties.
Engineer Ahmed Ibrahim Anwar, Head of the New Sphinx City Development Authority, explained that the decisions regarding the reclaimed land came after the relevant committees rejected legalization requests. The land was classified as “squatter-held” according to evaluations by the New Urban Communities Authority.
He added that a joint task force was formed with the Urban Development Police to execute the recovery orders. As a result, a 139-feddan plot was reclaimed at kilometer 47 west of the Cairo/Alexandria Desert Road in the Al-Thawra Al-Khadraa (Green Revolution) area. Additionally, another 14-feddan plot was recovered at kilometer 52 east of the same road in the Ramses Association area.
The Head of the Authority urged citizens to exercise caution when dealing with any companies promoting the sale of state-owned land. He stressed the importance of consulting with the City Authority to verify the legality and validity of any land ownership claims.
