President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi participated today in a high-level video conference meeting in preparation for the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development, scheduled to take place in Spain in June 2025. The meeting aimed to generate political momentum for the upcoming conference, which seeks to mobilize financial resources and enhance international cooperation to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). During the meeting, President El-Sisi delivered a speech in which he outlined Egypt’s vision for strengthening development financing efforts and expressed gratitude to the UN Secretary-General for the invitation to participate.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi thanked Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez for hosting the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development and praised his efforts in coordinating with the United Nations to organize the event. El-Sisi noted that the conference comes at a time of mounting global challenges, including geopolitical tensions, protectionism, and declining progress toward achieving the SDGs. These factors, he emphasized, are exacerbating the financing gap and negatively impacting the global economy—particularly in developing countries. He reaffirmed the significance of the SDGs agreed upon in 2015, despite the growing developmental and financial disparities.
