The National Housing and Building Research Center, headed by Dr. Mohamed Massoud El-Saadawy, held a symposium titled “The Center’s Contributions in the Field of Sustainable Smart Cities.” This event comes as part of the state’s efforts to realize Egypt Vision 2030, with the center aiming to develop an integrated system for sustainable urban development.
The center focuses on providing codes and guideline manuals to prepare the infrastructure of new smart cities, incorporating information and communication technologies to enhance the quality of urban life and offer interactive digital services.
The center is working to transform the culture of building in Egypt by promoting energy conservation and waste reuse, in addition to the optimal use of available materials. It has issued building codes and manuals aimed at achieving sustainability, reducing construction costs, and minimizing pressure on natural resources.
Furthermore, the center has prepared eight guiding manuals designed to simplify the application of the Smart Cities Code and to introduce the fundamental principles in the fields of urbanism and smart infrastructure.
