Launch of Infrastructure Development Projects Worth EGP 650 Million in Aswan

The Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, in cooperation with the Aswan Governorate, has commenced the implementation of major projects to resolve longstanding sanitation issues. This initiative comes in response to directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. Minister of Housing Dr. Sherif El-Sherbiny confirmed that the projects aim to tackle chronic infrastructure challenges, with the necessary financial allocations already secured. Among the key projects are:

  1. A permanent solution to the sewage problem in the Al-Korour area, with a total cost of EGP 200 million.

  2. Development and expansion of the sewage networks in the New Sail and Rural Sail areas, with a cost of EGP 450 million.

The Minister chaired a meeting to follow up on the implementation of sanitation projects in Aswan, where the progress of Pumping Station No. 11 in Al-Korour was reviewed.

The meeting also discussed the project to develop and expand the sewage system in the Sail area, which includes the following components:

  • Replacement and renovation of the pumping station.

  • Replacement of the main gravity sewer line with a diameter of 1200 mm.

  • Renewal of gravity networks in the New Sail and Rural Sail areas.

The Minister stressed the importance of expediting the implementation of both urgent and long-term solutions, emphasizing the need for full coordination with the Aswan Governorate to ensure immediate commencement of the projects.

For his part, Major General Ismail Kamal, Governor of Aswan, praised the role of the Housing Ministry in enhancing the stability of drinking water and sanitation services, especially in areas that have suffered from weak water pressure, frequent outages, and recurring failures and breaks in the sewage networks.
