President El-Sisi and Spanish Prime Minister Reject Ongoing Aggression on Gaza

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call on Tuesday from Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson for the Presidency, stated that both leaders emphasized the importance of capitalizing on the current momentum in bilateral relations between Egypt and Spain, as demonstrated by President El-Sisi’s visit to Madrid in February 2025. These efforts aim to explore new opportunities to strengthen cooperation in various fields, particularly in the economic, trade, and investment sectors, in a manner that serves the mutual interests of the two friendly nations.

The spokesperson added that the call addressed the situation in the Palestinian territories. Both sides expressed their firm rejection of the continued Israeli aggression on Gaza, as well as attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians from their lands. They stressed the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire and the facilitation of humanitarian aid, while underscoring the importance of implementing the two-state solution. This includes expanding international recognition of the State of Palestine and supporting a reconstruction plan for the Gaza Strip in line with the Arab-Islamic initiative, without displacing its residents.

Furthermore, the spokesperson noted that the conversation also touched on the situations in Syria, Lebanon, and Libya, with both leaders reaffirming the importance of preserving the unity and territorial integrity of these brotherly nations.
