The Official Gazette has published President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s ratification of Law No. 169 of 2024, which authorizes the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to sign a contract with the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and AbuQir Petroleum B.V. for the exploration and exploitation of natural gas and crude oil in the North Port Fouad offshore area in the Mediterranean Sea, in accordance with the provisions of the attached agreement.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s Decisions
In its Issue No. 10 (Supplement D), the Official Gazette announced President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s ratification of Law No. 11 of 2025, granting the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources the authority to contract with the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company, Eni’s IEOC Production B.V., BP Exploration (Delta) Limited, and QatarEnergy International E&P L.L.C. for the exploration and exploitation of natural gas and crude oil in the East Port Said offshore area in the Mediterranean Sea.
Article One of the law states:
“The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources is hereby authorized to contract with the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company, IEOC Production B.V., BP Exploration (Delta) Limited, and QatarEnergy International E&P L.L.C., for the exploration and exploitation of natural gas and crude oil in the East Port Said offshore area in the Mediterranean Sea, in accordance with the provisions of the attached agreement and the accompanying map.”
