Minister of Housing Holds Coordinating Committee Meeting and Issues Directives

Engineer Sherif El Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, held a regular meeting of the Higher Coordinating Committee, attended by deputy heads and assistants of the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA), along with the heads of new city authorities. The meeting aimed to monitor work progress, enhance performance rates, and facilitate the exchange of expertise. Several topics were discussed to unify visions, review ongoing projects, identify challenges, and seek solutions. The Minister emphasized the importance of executing projects in line with the directives of President El-Sisi, focusing on local manufacturing of project requirements and prioritizing local products.

The Minister underscored the importance of city authorities monitoring projects and coordinating with relevant stakeholders. He also directed the establishment of a specialized unit within NUCA to follow up on procedures and reaffirmed the responsibility of city authority heads in evaluating company performance and ensuring compliance with safety and security standards.

The meeting also addressed the topic of resources and revenues. Engineer Sherif El Sherbiny stressed the need to maximize resources and rationalize spending, while setting clear priorities for each city. He directed that a monthly report be prepared outlining revenues and expenditures, with a special focus on the delivery of housing units. A weekly report on handovers was also mandated.

The meeting included a discussion on digital transformation, aiming to provide automated services to citizens. The Minister instructed the full digitization of services and the need to inform the public upon implementation. Preparations for the summer season in the new cities were reviewed, with emphasis on securing water needs and irrigation for green spaces. Updates on new projects such as “Diarna” and “Zilal” were presented, highlighting the importance of maintaining quality and adhering to deadlines.

Land regularization was another major topic, with the Minister directing the study of submitted requests and the implementation of infrastructure services. He also emphasized the need for a governance department and a mechanism for communication with members of parliament.
