The Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, held a meeting to follow up on the progress of the Al-Fustat Hills Gardens project in Old Cairo. The meeting was attended by officials from the ministry and the Central Agency for Reconstruction. The minister emphasized the need to accelerate the pace of work to ensure the project is completed within the set timeframe, stressing the importance of coordination with executing companies, overcoming obstacles, and intensifying labor through a shift-based work system.
During the meeting, Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny listened to a detailed presentation on the ongoing works in the investment zone, the river area, the adventure zone, the heritage zone, and the hills area, in addition to the landscaping and other components of the project.
At the end of the meeting, the minister directed the officials to intensify efforts in completing the green spaces as soon as possible, while highlighting the importance of field presence at work sites, identifying the remaining elements, and setting weekly timelines to assess performance.
It is worth noting that the Al-Fustat Hills Gardens project spans an area of 500 acres and is being developed in a central location in the heart of historic Cairo. It is considered one of the largest parks of its kind in the Middle East. The project includes a range of activities aimed at reviving Egyptian heritage across the Pharaonic, Coptic, Islamic, and modern eras, in addition to cultural, commercial, hotel services, and open-air theaters. The project also features an antiquities zone with ancient excavations and heritage gardens. A large surrounding plateau offers a unique view of the Giza Pyramids, the Citadel of Salah El-Din, and Cairo’s iconic minarets.
