Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, received the Swedish Ambassador to Cairo, Mr. Dagh Juhlin-Dannfelt, and his accompanying delegation to discuss avenues for joint cooperation in the fields of sustainable urban development and the Ministry’s projects. The meeting was attended by a number of officials from the Ministry and the New Urban Communities Authority.
El-Sherbiny began the meeting by welcoming Ambassador Dagh Juhlin-Dannfelt and expressed his interest in exploring further aspects of cooperation between the two sides in joint projects being implemented by the New Urban Communities Authority in its affiliated cities.
During the meeting, the Minister of Housing also reviewed several projects currently being implemented by the Ministry, including the presidential initiative “Decent Life,” which aims to develop the Egyptian countryside. He highlighted the extensive work being carried out in the field of infrastructure. In this context, El-Sherbiny emphasized President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to support Egyptian industry and local products, stressing the importance of cooperation between Egyptian and international companies to exchange expertise and experiences, as well as to transfer and localize modern technologies.
The meeting also addressed possible cooperation in the field of sustainable smart transport in the new cities of Greater Cairo, with a focus on the integration of various means of transportation. Discussions included recycling waste and innovative solutions for transportation systems.
The Swedish Ambassador to Cairo expressed his readiness to support these projects and to cooperate in the Ministry of Housing’s initiatives. At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to hold coordination meetings between the two working teams to enhance cooperation across various fields.
