Completion of the West Cairo Monorail Project
This development is part of the West Cairo Monorail project, which is being implemented by the National Authority for Tunnels. The upgrade aims to increase the road’s capacity by expanding the number of lanes on the main route from four to six. This will significantly improve traffic flow and reduce congestion.
The road development plan includes improving asphalt quality and providing dedicated bicycle lanes to enhance safety and ease of movement. Additionally, traffic guidance and warning elements will be reinforced through road markings and signs to achieve the highest safety standards. The project will also feature urban landscaping, including tree planting, to improve the visual appeal and provide shaded areas, creating a more comfortable environment.
Eng. Mohamed Mostafa, Head of the 6th of October City Development Authority, emphasized that this project is part of a broader plan to upgrade road efficiency, which will enhance traffic movement as the population density continues to rise. He also highlighted the importance of cooperation between all relevant entities to ensure the project’s success within the planned timeframe.
Eng. Radi Khalil, Deputy Head of the 6th of October City Authority for Roads, explained that the development work includes road widening, increasing the number of lanes, and improving services along both sides of the corridor. This will involve upgrading entry and exit points and creating safe pedestrian crossings. The project prioritizes implementing traffic safety and security standards to ensure efficient operations while minimizing the impact of construction on traffic flow. This initiative is part of the ministry’s efforts to enhance infrastructure and develop the road network in line with Egypt’s vision for sustainable urban development.
