Not all applicants can obtain a housing unit due to incomplete documents or failure to meet the requirements. Mai Abdel Hamid, CEO of the Social Housing Fund, clarified that some announcements attract many applicants, prioritizing those who meet the conditions. She confirmed that customers who did not receive a housing unit could refund their down payment through the fund’s official website after the booking period closes. This can be done by logging in with their national ID number and password and selecting the down payment refund service.
Conditions for Benefiting from the Housing Unit
Abdel Hamid emphasized the importance of beneficiaries residing in their social housing units permanently with their families for at least five years. Selling or transferring ownership of these units before this period ends is prohibited unless approved by the fund’s board of directors.
She also explained that violating these conditions could lead to legal penalties, including imprisonment for up to one year or, in some cases, the withdrawal of the unit, according to the Social Housing Law.
