Working Diligently to Support and Encourage Local and International Investors

Dr. Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister of Housing, met with Radimila Labos and representatives from various European entities to discuss cooperation in the utilities sector. The meeting was part of the Housing Ministry’s efforts to support local and international private sector companies in drinking water and wastewater projects, aiming to improve services for citizens. Ismail reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to encouraging investment in Egypt’s water desalination, sludge management, and industrial localization.

Housing Ministry: Working Diligently to Support and Encourage Local and International Investors

The Deputy Minister of Housing explained that the public-private partnership (PPP) action plan focuses on drinking water and wastewater projects over five years as part of a broader strategy extending to 2050. The sector’s priorities revolve around three key pillars: comprehensive service coverage, improving service providers’ performance, and citizen engagement. Additionally, directives have been given to establish the “Egyptian Water Partnership Platform” to enhance coordination between the public and private sectors. Ismail emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration in preparation for the “Water for Tomorrow” conference, scheduled for November 2025.

Dr. Sayed Ismail reaffirmed the ministry’s dedication to supporting the private sector, removing obstacles, and promoting local production and industry localization in water and wastewater services. Radimila Labos and her team presented opportunities for collaboration between Egyptian investors and their counterparts from Germany, Italy, and the European Union in this field. Meanwhile, the ministry’s Project Management Unit outlined priority projects for public-private partnerships over the next five years.

After the meeting, it was agreed that the Project Management Unit would coordinate between mission representatives and the ministry’s affiliated entities to explore cooperation opportunities and strengthen communication with development partners.
