Approval of the General Budget Project for the Tourism Development Authority for the Fiscal Year 2025/2026
Allocation of Land for the Establishment of a Field Hospital in Suez Governorate to Serve the Ain Sokhna Tourism Sector
Engineer Sherif El-Shorbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, chaired a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Tourism Development Authority (TDA). During the meeting, the efforts of the Authority to support development in the areas under its jurisdiction were reviewed. The meeting was attended by Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, Mr. Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, and Major General Khaled Mubarak, Governor of South Sinai, either in person or via video conference.
During the meeting, the Tourism Development Authority Board of Directors approved the general budget project for the fiscal year 2025/2026. The board also approved a request from the General Authority for Health Care to allocate an 8,000 m² plot of land from the TDA’s jurisdiction to the Suez Governorate to establish a field hospital to serve the Ain Sokhna tourism sector. The National Center for Planning State Land Use will be notified to take action.
Additionally, the meeting discussed a quarterly report on implementing the Authority’s projects across all tourism development sectors up to December 2024. The report covered 573 major projects, divided according to the type of development: 506 limited development projects and 67 integrated development projects, which include 1,158 sub-projects, totaling 1,664 projects across all tourism sectors. The meeting also addressed proposed mechanisms to stimulate the Tourism Development Authority’s tourism hotel investment projects and discussions on several related tourism development projects, with decisions made accordingly.
The meeting also reviewed the results of the facilitations granted to tourism development and investment companies regarding the payment of their outstanding financial obligations to the Authority. It examined the status of delayed projects and the mechanisms for handling them.
Furthermore, the meeting discussed all measures implemented towards underperforming companies and those with execution rates below 15%, focusing on the full capacity required to execute key projects.
The Minister of Housing concluded the meeting by emphasizing the need to implement the directives of political leadership to increase hotel rooms and expand tourism projects. He directed that a complete classification of delayed cases and a plan for all such cases be prepared to present at the next meeting. He indicated that this plan would be studied before presentation to the board, as well as the formation of a committee with the involvement of relevant parties to amend the technical regulations that govern the work mechanisms of the Tourism Development Authority, ensuring they cover all cases and necessary procedures for the next phase.
