Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, has directed officials from various departments of the ministry to expedite the completion of projects that directly affect the lives of Egyptian citizens. He emphasized the need to adhere to established deadlines, particularly for presidential initiatives such as “Decent Life” (Hayah Karima) aimed at developing rural areas and “Housing for All Egyptians,” as well as projects related to water supply and sanitation services.
This statement was made during a regular meeting with several members of the Egyptian Parliament, both from the House of Representatives and the Senate. The meeting focused on addressing the demands of their constituencies concerning housing, water supply, sewage projects, and other areas related to the Ministry of Housing. Senior ministry officials and representatives from executive bodies also attended the meeting.
During the session, the parliament members extended their gratitude to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for his directives that led to the cancellation of the 2021 building regulations. The country has now reverted to the provisions of Law No. 119 of 2008 and its executive regulations, further simplifying the procedures for obtaining building permits within local government areas. This step was hailed as a move to ease the burden on citizens and to stimulate urban development across Egypt.
One Member of Parliament representing Beni Suef expressed appreciation to Minister El-Sherbiny for his intervention in resolving the issue of a delayed sewage treatment station and its pumping unit. The project, which had been delayed for a significant period, saw accelerated work over the past three months following the minister’s directives. The station is now ready, with the electricity supply scheduled to be activated soon for its operation. Additionally, a civil society organization has volunteered to implement household connections for the station, benefiting three villages in the region.
The meeting reflects the government’s continued focus on delivering essential services to the public and addressing local concerns through collaboration with elected representatives.
