Minister of Housing: Political Leadership Supports the Development of Services in Egyptian Villages and Rural Areas

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbini, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, explained during his visit to Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate on Saturday that supporting infrastructure projects in the governorate comes in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi as part of efforts to develop Egyptian villages and rural areas.

He confirmed that the ministry aims to provide integrated utility services that ensure a decent life for residents, with a focus on meeting the needs of citizens across different districts and expanding essential infrastructure projects.

The minister’s statements came during the inauguration of the new drinking water station in the village of Dakmeera, affiliated with Kafr El-Sheikh Center, accompanied by Major General Dr. Alaa Abdel-Moaty, Governor of Kafr El-Sheikh.

The construction of the station cost 150 million EGP, with a production capacity of 120 liters per second to meet the needs of approximately 65,000 residents in several villages, including Dakmeera, El-Sheeshini, El-Mohateb, Zahraa El-Zawy, El-Ittihad, El-Saraya, El-Omda, Salam, Abu El-Nasr, and Ezbet Khamees. This project falls within the state’s plans to develop and support drinking water services across governorates.

The inauguration was attended by Dr. Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities; Dr. Mohamed Hassan, Head of the Drinking Water and Wastewater Regulatory Authority and Consumer Protection; as well as Mohamed Raafat, the Governor’s Assistant for Projects, along with several ministry and governorate leaders.

The Minister of Housing pointed out that the new station represents an integral part of the state’s efforts to improve the efficiency of drinking water networks and strengthen infrastructure in the villages of Kafr El-Sheikh. He noted that the station’s production capacity will contribute to enhancing water-supply services, improving pumping efficiency, and meeting the needs of urban expansion in the benefiting areas.

The minister added that the ministry continues to implement projects aimed at improving the quality of services provided to citizens in the governorate’s cities and villages. He also expressed his happiness to be in Kafr El-Sheikh, extending his thanks to the governor and the working teams for their efforts. He affirmed that the Ministry of Housing places great importance on supporting vital utilities in Kafr El-Sheikh, especially drinking water and wastewater projects.
