In line with the directives of Eng. Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, an expanded meeting of the Main Crisis and Disaster Room was held at the authority’s headquarters. This meeting comes as part of the New Urban Communities Authority’s ongoing efforts to enhance crisis-management mechanisms and strengthen readiness for emergency response.
During the meeting, the IT Vikings team presented a detailed demonstration of the technical features of the new application designed to support and improve the crisis-management system within city authorities. The presentation included an in-depth explanation of the digital reporting mechanisms, how reports are categorized according to severity levels, and the management of incidents through an interface that relies on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to track the real-time flow of reports from submission to closure.
The presentation also highlighted the feature of sharing coordinates via GPS, which allows relevant authorities to determine their exact locations and movements in real time, thereby improving response speed and enabling precise calculation of arrival times.

A special demonstration was given for the support-group interface, which facilitates document and image sharing and enables event-related conversations while preserving all content for documentation. The time-alert interface was also showcased, using color-coded indicators to reflect the time phases of handling each incident.
Additionally, the presentation covered a set of tools for generating detailed and comprehensive reports, whether for individual incidents or for creating daily and weekly reports covering all areas. The system also includes ready-made scenarios for handling various emergency cases, with the ability to record the real scenario and share details related to equipment used and response times.
The new application provides a dedicated interface for senior leadership, enabling them to follow incidents across different cities in real time. At the end of the meeting, a simulation video of an actual incident was presented, demonstrating the system’s performance in field response from the moment a report is received until the crisis is resolved—reflecting the authority’s vision to enhance its digital tools and strengthen its handling of emergencies across affiliated cities.
The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including Samah Fahmy, General Supervisor of the Crisis Room; Dr. Amani Mamdouh, General Coordinator of City Authorities; and members of the Ministry’s Main Crisis and Disaster Room.
Also present were Dr. Sherine Mohamed, Professor of Environmental and Sanitary Engineering at the National Housing and Building Research Center; Osama Fouad, Director of the General Department of Digital Transformation; along with technical support teams and the IT Vikings team responsible for developing the new crisis-management application for the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater.
