Minister of Housing Discusses Development Projects in New Valley Governorate

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, met with Major General Mohamed El-Zamlot, Governor of New Valley, at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital to review the status of development projects implemented by the ministry in the governorate. The meeting was attended by Engineer Mamdouh Raslan, Chairman of the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater, and Major General Ehab Khadr, Chairman of the National Authority for Potable Water and Sewage.

Minister El-Sherbiny emphasized that the Ministry of Housing is committed to implementing various developmental and service projects to serve the people of New Valley, which constitutes more than 40% of Egypt’s total land area. This is part of the ministry’s strategy to develop border governorates, provide essential services, and increase the factors that attract residents to these areas.

Major General El-Zamlot expressed his appreciation for the ministry’s efforts and thanked Minister El-Sherbiny and the ministry officials for their ongoing support, stressing the importance of continued cooperation to complete priority projects for the benefit of the governorate’s residents.

Over the past decade under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the ministry has completed 16 drinking water projects with a total capacity of 95.4 thousand cubic meters per day, and 8 sewage projects in New Valley, at a total cost of EGP 716.5 million. Currently, 18 drinking water projects are underway, costing EGP 536 million, along with 3 sewage projects at EGP 385 million.

The Central Agency for Reconstruction, through the New Valley Reconstruction Authority, has executed 60 development projects in New Valley since 2014, with a total investment of approximately EGP 6.47 billion. These projects include the construction of 880 kilometers of roads, 2,096 housing units, and various infrastructure and service projects aimed at improving the quality of life for the residents of New Valley and supporting the overall development of the region.
