Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, announced the near completion of a new hospital comprising 175 beds, located in the First Residential District in the Clubs Area of the northern extension of New Qena City. This comes as part of the government’s efforts to enhance infrastructure and services to meet the needs of residents in Upper Egypt. The minister also highlighted the progress of ongoing utility projects, including drinking water, sewage, and road networks in the city’s expansions, stressing the commitment to both timelines and standard specifications.
During his inspection of the project’s progress, the minister emphasized the importance of continuous supervision of national projects in new cities to ensure the required quality and speed of implementation.
In the same context, Engineer Yasser Abdullah Ramadan, Head of the New Qena City Development Authority, received Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Sadeq, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Qena, to inspect the hospital, which has now reached 97% completion. The project is set to serve as an integrated medical center for residents of the city and neighboring areas.
The Undersecretary of Health praised the quality of construction and finishing works, while the Head of the Authority stressed the importance of finalizing the supply of laundry and kitchen facilities to enable the handover procedures to the Ministry of Health and the hospital’s operation.
As for infrastructure projects, the Head of the Authority continued to follow up on the implementation of utility works in the eastern extension of the city, which include drinking water, sewage, irrigation, roads, and electricity. He clarified that the first phase covers an area of 600 feddans and includes excavation, backfilling, and the formation of main roads. He also urged the executing company to accelerate the rate of progress while ensuring full compliance with the highest quality standards to deliver the works in an ideal manner.
